Eating Healthy Not So Cheap

Eating Healthy Not So Cheap

I'm not a spring chicken anymore, so I've been trying to get my diet under control, exercise more, etc. One thing I've noticed is that eating healthy can really be costly. This may not be a revelation to most people, but I've never been one to pay a whole lot of attention to prices.

But I've been subscribing to Men's Health and reading the health section of my local newspaper, and I've been trying to follow some of the advice found in these places. But it's not so cheap to do so.

Two examples:

Pom Pomegranate Juice is supposed to fight atherosclerosis (heart disease) and contain antioxidants and do all sorts of wonderful things. At this store you can get a 16-ounce bottle for $4.99. (I think it is actually a little cheaper than that at my grocery.) That's a lot of money for 16 ounces of liquid. If it was the guaranteed fountain of youth, no problem. But it's just pomegranate juice. I'm still going to die someday, and so I have to question how much of the money I have while alive should go toward pomegranate juice.

Planter's now offers this NUT-rition Heart Healthy Mix, which is full of peanuts, almonds, pistachios, pecans, hazelnuts and the especially heart-healthy walnut. Over at Amazon I can buy three 9.75-ounce cans for $15, or $5 per. That's actually not bad in comparison to my local store, where I believe a single can was over $6. Nuts are never cheap, but add the heart-healthy tag (and the walnuts), and now you're getting into some serious cash.

Don't even get me started on the cost of multivitamins.

They might make me live a long time, but these superfoods are also going to make me go broke.

How to enjoy your diet plan

enjoy-diet-planFinally you have made a diet plan and next big step would be to put efforts to achieve it. Without a diet plan and workout regime, all those extra pounds and inches would not just melt away because you wish them away. You can plan your own diet plan or consult doctor or taking on the prepared diet plan of others can help you to focus on your goal and find the steps along the way.

Strategize your weight loss project.
Consider your weight loss project – at work when you are given a project you do not complete it in a day you organize your steps and plan things out in order to proceed. To complete the project well, you’ll need to strategize, figure out what is most important and then put things in the right order. This is same with your weight loss project. Make a goal like- a swimsuit or a certain dress size, you want to fit in. Your goal needs commitment and planning. Make achievable, organized and clear goal as the better prepared goals are easily attainable. Treat your diet plan like any other project this will helps to make it less emotional and gives you something to cling to when times are rough.
For everybody there is different diet plan depending of the weight and height of the individual.  There can not be a same plan for women with different height and body weight. Number of activities done by an individual in a day should also be consider while making a diet plan. People doing more activities in a day burn more calories. So, the diet plan should be flexible to suit every individual.
The enjoyable diet plan should easily fit in elements of your lifestyle.

And The Winner Is..

And The Winner Is..

Just under eight weeks ago, as part of a Hills promotional tie-in, I posted a contest imploring people to state their worthiness to win $25 of free Sonic fast food. I really didn”t expect much of a response, but I must have vastly overlooked the draw of free food and perhaps underestimated the quality of Sonic (which I still have not tried). Anyway, I received many submissions, and they were all well-written, well-stated, and well-imbued with the sort of sentimental stuff that really pulls the heartstrings.

I had a very difficult time choosing a winner, but alas, the time has come.

The winning entry after the jump….

Hedge Fund Grabs Fast Food

Hedge fund Trian Partners said that they will buy about 49.4 million shares of fast-food operator Wendy's/Arby's Group for $4.15 per share, or about $205 million.

Triarc Cos. Inc., which operates Arby's and was run by billionaire investor Nelson Peltz, bought Wendy's in a deal that closed in September.
