A Healthy Diet Can Improve Your Skin
Posted: under Uncategorized.
It is not only skin care products that will nurture your skin and protect it from the bad factors of the environment. Sometimes, what we apply outside like anti-aging moisturizer, cleanser, etc is not sufficient to provide the skin’s needs. What we ingest are also contributes to our skin’s condition. A healthy diet will provide you raw nutrients, vitamins and minerals that your body and skin needs.
There are certain foods that contain the elements vital to our skin, and that will be our main focus for this article. Afterwards, a simple recipe is going to be shared so you can immediately concoct a healthy diet for your skin.
First things that come into mind when one thinks of examples of healthy foods are the colorful fruits and vegetables-which is right. They are not colorful for nothing, mind you. They possess a generous amount of phytonutrients which is responsible for their different colors. Phytonutrients are known to bring benefits to the skin and body.
For example, you may also notice yellow or orange-colored fruits and vegetables like carrots, corn, and red bell peppers. They look that way because they are enriched with carotenoids, a type of antioxidant, that guards you against harmful free radicals. Carotenoids are also found in fruits like watermelon, tomato, papaya, mango, etc.
Another type of phytonutrient is flavonoids. This is a very effective antioxidant which can be comparable with vitamin C. Flavonoids can be found in red, purple, blue-colored fruits and vegetables. Examples are grapes and berries.
Now that you have an idea about phytonutrients, it’s time to put the knowledge into application. Also remember that vitamins and minerals are also present in fruits and vegetables-not just phytonutrients.
This time, what I’m going to share to you is basically a fruit salad so it’s going to be very easy to make. First, grab the ingredients from your kitchen (or garden). They are the following:
6 sliced large strawberries
2 grapefruits
3 oranges
3 sliced apples
1/2 sliced melon
You can slice the fruits in whatever form you like. Just mix them altogether and it is ready to eat. If you want some creamy goodness, you can add enough milk to satisfy your taste.
There are lots of available recipes out there in the internet. They can be quite easy since they are served raw and do not require cooking, only a little slicing and mixing. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different fruits and vegetables. Have fun while making it.
